Around these parts

Oh dear. It seems I've gone AWOL again. So busy thinking, planning, doing, no time to write. But that's not fair. There's always time to write. Not writing is a choice.

So, just to fill you in, these days I'm thinking about...

...what the next step in my career path is because honestly, I have no idea and am feeling a little adrift.

...the fact that I'm not blogging, and feeling simultaneously devoid of anything to write about and guilty that that is the case.

...eating homemade pizza for dinner, because comfort food always helps with thinking, planning, and doing.

And I'm planning...

...a move, which is made more difficult by the fact that we're not precisely sure when or where we're moving, other than the fact that we're moving.

...my fantasy road trip, which may or may not happen this fall, depending on how much risk we decide to be comfortable with.

...back-to-back weekend trips to New York and L.A., which sounds very cool and jet-set-ish, but really isn't.

And I'm doing...

...another khorovats this weekend, this time for our Nashville-area friends.

...eye exercises to fend of the blurred vision that unfortunately comes from too many hours spent poring over briefs on a computer screen.

...the laundry.

Another McCall post, because summer vacation really should last forever

Here's a little mini-travelogue of the week we spent in McCall.

MONDAY: Arrival.

McCall was overcast and COLD. The view from the dock was gorgeous, though, and we all hoped desperately that it would warm up enough for us to really enjoy it. (It did.)

TUESDAY: Hiking.

You can read all about it here.

WEDNESDAY: Pontoon Boat.

We had use of two boats -- the pontoon boat that comes with the house, and a motor boat that we rented for a few days. I had some assistance from Matthew in captaining the pontoon boat.

After meandering up and down the lake, we found a suitable place to beach the boats for a picnic, and used the pontoon as a lazy homebase for some motor-boat-based-water-sports.

J-P and Brett decided to ride the innertube on the way home. Their beers got a little foamy, but I don't think they minded.

Not seasick in the slightest, J-P even spent the evening lolling in the water.

THURSDAY: Wakeboarding.

J-P got up first.

Never outdone, I got up on my next try.

We relaxed that night (actually, most nights) with that quintessential summer beverage, the gin and tonic.

Sunset (at an insanely late 9:30) was followed by an impressive display of amateur fireworks set off from the dock.

FRIDAY: Departure.

Goodbyes, plans to do this again soon, and a group picture, minus Saira, who had to leave early, giving some excuse about wedding planning and legal academic paper writing. Pshaw.
